Thanks to Completely From Mountains, JesusChryslerSupercar, Finkle (avec Sam Robertson), and Letters From Elvis. Thanks also to the S/T merch urchins, Raji and Kim. We still have a handful of copies left of the Cats and Horses Club Volume 1 compilation cd. Contact us if you'd like one; a $2 donation or a sing and dance number would be great payment.

New songs for Maid Mosephine and the Equines, hear them at our show this Saturday, March 7 at Olive Oil Company! Last show, I lost my voice, so I hope it comes back to me full force before the weekend.

In the works are a handful of shows, one of which is April 3 at New College. Jordan of I Die, You Die is the man of the hour, honoring me with an "official helper" title in organizing the (maybe first ever) Townie Showcase on campus.

Also, coming up March 20 is the huge drummer battle at Cock n Bull Pub. Last I heard, over 20 drummers will be participating.

Cat and Horse will be journeying to Orlando to see Strangers Family Band open for King Khan this Sunday. I'll be sure to take some pictures; I'd say it's safe to assume they'll be awesome for the subject alone.

Toodles,
HorseMosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-60322966580661760632009-02-18T13:31:00.000-08:002009-02-18T13:32:24.867-08:00oh yeah, another oneFlatulent dude. The cat and the horse noticed that we can only be in one place at one time on one night. Darn it!

So, we're updating the upcoming noise section by creeping on the myspace band pages of our friends and cohorts of all sorts and posting shows here. There are 80,000+ distractions on the internet, but we're hoping to compile shows goings-on in the near future so musicians and listeners can support other musicians around town in one place. We're also hoping, by doing this, to minimize the amount of double-booking for shows on the same night here in town because, let's face it - split personalities can't drive a car.

Let's do this!

If you're a band or know of a band doing something cool (even nonbandlike events will be considered), please let us know and we'll putcha on our list.

High five.Mosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-37846787318543834522009-02-01T12:32:00.000-08:002009-02-05T16:34:55.515-08:00Sarockasota

So... Weekend update time, and we're not even all the way through it.

Friday the cat and the horse trotted (cantered?) over to Chloe Kendall's art show at the Iserman Gallery at New College. Pictures are to come but will not replace the firsthand experience of Chloe's the rainbow bath/projectionary wondervision.

Next on the detail list, our own Champions of Weird Noises Showcase at Sarasota Olive Oil Company. Highlights of the night were Cats in the Basement's rendition of St. James Infirmary Blues, being asked to play a motorhouse show, and Matt Murphy's handstand on the drumset during Skiffle's set.

Slideshowmaking time!

P.S. I was wary at first of their receptiveness to a (geez, I'm new at this) band from a little town, seeing as that they hailed from a state famous for its concentrated (read: talented) music scene and had been on quite an impressive tour so far, but as soon as we started talking to Nick, Mo, Bo, and Jordan, I felt silly for my aforementioned hesitation. They were incredibly down-to-earth and encouraging of MMATE's yet-to-be-categorized sound. They followed our set with nearly three hours of pure, saturated harmonious-organtastic-guitar jam blues. Needless to say, I left the bar, with a copy of their cd Hot Trottin (schwing), feeling inspired.

Check them out on myspace!

P.S. Thanks to Greg for being our emergency xylophone player, learning our entire 11-song set in less than six hours. Give him a high five the next time you see him. :)Mosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-34528636057350805662009-01-26T17:51:00.000-08:002009-01-26T22:08:48.678-08:00fat tuesday runs into wednesday in a bar
See you there!Mosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-28095667193797761772009-01-24T11:27:00.000-08:002009-01-24T11:41:56.581-08:00Happy CaturdayAt the last show I played with my band, Maid Mosephine and the Equines, I wished everyone a happy Caturday. It was Friday. Anyways, this day (today:glorious) the cat and the horse are sitting side by side as I type, eating pop tarts and playing on oppositely colored computers.

The theme of the ever-developing weekend is unity, I think. So far, we've practiced for CinemaSounds (tonight at 10:30! Burns Court! $5!), went on a freestyle walk downtown to chat up the dudes at Clothesline, saw an art exhibit, and then stopped by Olive Oil Company for a rad show. Sarasota's exploding with options, talent, and friends. Tonight will be aforementioned CinemaSounds. Tomorrow will bring coffee at our downtown headquarters and a MMATE show at Pastimes. Throughout my dealings with the outside world I see fields of artists and musicians here trading places between act and audience, and both sets clap just as loud.

(Mental Holding Of Hands in the Community!)

Just wanted to say, I think these days are pretty good regardless of the small number of pennies at the bottom of my purse.

Good things.
Mosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-14282414680796313712009-01-22T21:29:00.000-08:002009-01-22T21:57:43.951-08:00champions of weird noises showcase January 31stFree, all ages show at Sarasota Olive Oil Company. If you'd like to read a few words more, here are some about the band!

Maid Mosephine and the Equines is a get-together of friendly proportions:
Mosephine (Erin)- guitar, lyrics, recorder
Andrew Sink - xylophone
Olivia Posani - bass
Mike Murphy - drums
Harper Sublette - mandolin/tambourine

Mosephine started performing acoustic shows in June 2008. Andrew became the first official equine, playing cello. Mike is Mosephine's brother and heard her singing from the room next door. He started banging on his drums to drown her out but soon realized it would be much more constructive to play along instead. Many a living room jam session was held with Harper and Olivia, and a census was reached that this music was fun enough to share with others someday. After urgings from other awesome local acts, we stopped all the willy-nilly "let's talk about playing music sometime" and united in October 2008 (very much like Captain Planet if he divided into seven people). We've played 13 shows as a full band and there's some shared sentiment, perhaps, that we might just all grow old together.

About cat, from the cat's mouth, coming soon!Mosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607562230835501626.post-4340035418199953692009-01-19T16:17:00.000-08:002009-01-26T18:59:32.640-08:00our little place on the interwebsCats and Horses equals Cats in the Basement plus Maid Mosephine and the Equines. We like to put shows together and see everyone's smiling faces at them. We do this by getting bands together at venues, making flyers with really cool art, and then doing the promotion by handing out miniature flyers to people we think will want to come.

That's pretty much it for describing things. We like pictures and sounds more than words.

xo
Cats and Horses

www.myspace.com/charliehood
www.myspace.com/maidmosephineandtheequinesMosephinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14291464597457502117noreply@blogger.com0
